Summary: "Basic Mustang restoration"
I would rate this book as only fair. It would be better titled "How to Rebuild Your Pony Car" rather than vintage Mustang restoration. Most of the book could be applied to any restoration project car. Very little vintage Mustang specific information. Switch the pictures and you have another car book.
A lot of the book also looks at areas where most enthusiasts will have a professional do the work: engine and transmission and rear end. Good tips in these areas, but I believe the average restorer would be more interested in engine detailing rather than engine rebuilding.
If you are looking to rebuild your generic older car, this is an OK book. If you want a to restore an original vintage Mustang there are other more specific Mustang restoration books available. I am returning this book.

Summary: "good starter book"
Was given advice to pick up the book when it had been printed. Was not dissapointed. The steps for each of the procedures are articulated well and most processes are shown in detail with good photos to assist the reader. The writer offers sound advice when considering changes and improvements while maintaining the originality of the cars. Well worth the money spent.

Summary: "Awesome Book!"
I've bought other Mustang restoration books, but most are black and white, contain factory drawings and exploded view drawings. These tend to offer little in the way of real instruction. This book is definitely different; it offers procedures for doing the actual work and the step by step photos show you what's actually being done. And it covers all the parts of the car--engine, transmission, steering, suspension, chassis, brakes, bodywork, paint, interior. While it doesn't replace the factory service manual, I haven't seen any other Mustang restoration book that offers as much information.

This is the most hands-on restoration how-to book out there, Ford, Chevy, or otherwise. It doesn't just tell you what to do, it shows you what to do, and how to do it, by utilizing informative text and over 500 highly detailed color photos.
